#1 The fried liver.
#2 The Sicilian defense.
There are many variations of the Sicilian.
This next video talks about the dragon Sicilian.
#3 The French defense.
One more French defense video.
Two common opening mistakes.
#1 playing f6 very early.
Playing f6 early in the game can be a bad idea in certain situations. The move f6 can expose your king. In the following example black loses a rook and gets a knight or gets mated.
e4 e5
Nf3 f6
Nxf6!
If black plays fxe5 white replies Qh5+ and after g6 Qxe5+ wins the rook on h8. If black plays Ke7? white plays Qxe5 and white can mate black very quickly after Bc4.
#2 Opening with rook pawns
If you open with rook pawns your opponent can enjoy a strong center and control the game and/or win both your rooks for both his bishops. In the following example black easily beats white.
h4? d5
a4? e5
Ra3?? Bxa3
bxa3? Nf6
Rh3?? Bxh3
gxh3?
White now loses easily.
